What this serum does
A 50 ml serum built on Niacinamide at position three with Glutathione, Squalane, and five fruit and plant extracts, aimed at the look of dark spots. Twenty-five ingredients.
What is doing the brightening work
Niacinamide is third, above every extract and every texture ingredient. It is the most-studied ingredient in this category and it is placed where the formulator meant it to be the answer.
Glutathione at nineteen is the second. It is a tripeptide the body makes itself, widely used in Asian brightening formulas, and notoriously unstable in water — it oxidises.
Which is why Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin at twenty-one is worth pointing at. A cyclodextrin is a ring of sugar molecules with a hollow centre; unstable actives are tucked inside that cavity to keep them away from water and air. Two entries apart from the least stable ingredient in the formula is exactly where you would put one.
About the vitamin C that is not here
No ascorbic acid, no ascorbyl glucoside, no ethyl ascorbic acid, no magnesium ascorbyl phosphate. If you came looking for a vitamin C serum, this is not one, and we would rather say so than let the word "glow" imply it.
What is here is fruit: Malpighia Glabra (Acerola) Fruit Extract and Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Extract at twelve and thirteen. Acerola is the fruit with the highest natural vitamin C content known, and sea buckthorn is close behind. A fruit extract does carry vitamin C — but at an amount the label does not standardise, in a form nobody has measured for you. Treat them as extracts, not as a vitamin C dose.
The last ingredient
Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil closes the list. It is the scent — this serum has a distinct herbal smell, and that is where it comes from. There is no separate "Fragrance" entry, but an essential oil is still a fragrance, and a reactive skin should know it is there.

- Erythritol
- Sugar alcohol. Used to pull in water and hold it; gives a cooler, lighter finish than glycerin alone.
- Allantoin
- Heterocyclic diureide. Used to calm irritation.
How the formula works together
Twenty-five ingredients is short, and there is almost nothing on this list that is not either an active, a humectant or the minimum needed to hold it together. The first eight entries are water, glycerin, niacinamide, hyaluronate, propanediol, erythritol, butylene glycol and squalane — a humectant stack with one emollient, which is why this reads as a light fluid rather than a serum that sits on the surface.
Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate is the single emulsifier, present to keep the squalane and the rosemary oil dispersed. Carbomer and Hydroxyethylcellulose set the thickness. Arginine adjusts pH.
That leaves very little filler. It is an unusually honest ingredient list for the price point.
Who it is for
Worth checking before you buy: There is no vitamin C molecule on this label — the work is done by niacinamide and glutathione instead.
Labelled for the look of dark spots and uneven tone. Light enough for oily skin, and short enough on ingredients to suit people who react to long lists. Contains rosemary oil. Wear sunscreen — tone work without it undoes itself.
How to use it
- Apply a small amount to the whole face, or just to the areas you are targeting.
- Pat until it has absorbed rather than rubbing it in.
- Follow with moisturiser, and sunscreen in the morning.
