Beauty of Joseon Ground Rice and Honey Glow Mask 150ml
Description
Dense, cushioned lather. The real soap kind.
What this mask does
A 150 ml mask, formulated to hold water in the surface and soften the surface.
A soap-based foam, by formulation
The cleansing system here is saponified: Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, neutralised with an alkali. That is what produces dense, cushioned lather rather than the thin foam a detergent system gives.
Worth knowing if you deliberately avoid soap-based cleansers.
Key ingredients
| Ingredient | What it is, and what it is used for |
|---|---|
| Isononyl Isononanoate | Branched-chain ester. Listed as skin-conditioning agent (emollient), solvent. |
| Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride | Medium-chain triglyceride from coconut. Used to soften by filling the gaps between surface cells. |
| Hydrogenated Polyisobutene | Hydrogenated polyolefin. Listed as skin-conditioning agent (emollient), viscosity increasing agent (non-aqueous). |
| Ethylhexyl Palmitate | Fatty acid ester. Listed as fragrance, skin-conditioning agent (emollient). |
| Glycerin | Polyol. A material skin already contains, so it reads as its own; used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Propanediol | Plant-derived diol. Dissolves the rest so the formula stays one liquid; used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Dipropylene Glycol | Diol. Dissolves the rest so the formula stays one liquid. |
| Butylene Glycol | Diol. Used to pull in water and hold it; dissolves the rest so the formula stays one liquid. |
| Honey Extract | Extract of honey. Listed as skin-conditioning agent (humectant), skin-conditioning agent (miscellaneous). |
| Palmitic Acid | C16 saturated fatty acid. A material skin already contains, so it reads as its own; used to soften by filling the gaps between surface cells; keeps oil and water from separating. |
| Stearic Acid | C18 saturated fatty acid. Used to soften by filling the gaps between surface cells; sets how thick it is. |
| Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate | Polyglyceryl ester. Lets oily soil rinse away with water; keeps oil and water from separating. |
How the formula works together
Two groups of ingredients are doing the work here. Humectants — Glycerin, Propanediol and Butylene Glycol — draw water into the surface. Emollients and lipids — Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Palmitic Acid and Stearic Acid — sit on top and slow how fast that water leaves.
Humectants and emollients and lipids are the pairing that matters here: water pulled in by one, held there by the other. That is the difference between skin that feels comfortable an hour after application and skin that feels comfortable at bedtime.
Who it is for
Labelled for all skin type.
Worth checking before you buy: soap-based (saponified) cleansing system.
How to use it
- Apply a thick, even layer to clean, dry skin and leave on for 15–20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
- Use once a week or whenever your skin needs a boost.
