Plenty of products mention ceramides. This list names 5 of them — Ceramide NP, Ceramide NS, Ceramide AP, Ceramide AS, Ceramide EOP — alongside cholesterol and phytosphingosine.
Those are the lipid classes skin's outer layer is built from, and this formula supplies several rather than one.

How the formula works together
Three groups of ingredients are doing the work here. Emollients and lipids — Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane and Ceramide NP among others — sit on top and slow how fast that water leaves. Humectants — Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid — draw water into the surface. Panthenol works on the look of redness.
Humectants and emollients and lipids are the pairing that matters here: water pulled in by one, held there by the other. That is the difference between skin that feels comfortable an hour after application and skin that feels comfortable at bedtime.
