What this cream does

A 50 ml cream, formulated to calm the look of redness, soften the surface and even out the look of tone.

A soap-based foam, by formulation

The cleansing system here is saponified: PALMITIC ACID, STEARIC ACID, neutralised with an alkali. That is what produces dense, cushioned lather rather than the thin foam a detergent system gives.

Worth knowing if you deliberately avoid soap-based cleansers.

PORTULACA OLERACEA EXTRACT Extract of Portulaca oleracea (purslane). Listed as skin-conditioning agent (humectant).
CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE Medium-chain triglyceride from coconut. Used to soften by filling the gaps between surface cells.
TRIETHYLHEXANOIN Glyceryl triester. Listed as fragrance, hair-conditioning agent, skin-conditioning agent (occlusive), solvent.
HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE Hydrogenated polyolefin. Listed as fragrance, hair-conditioning agent, emollient, skin-conditioning agent.
HYDROGENATED POLY(C6-14 OLEFIN) Hydrogenated polyolefin. Listed as skin-conditioning agent (occlusive), viscosity increasing agent (non-aqueous).
SQUALANE Saturated hydrocarbon, hydrogenated squalene. A material skin already contains, so it reads as its own; used to soften by filling the gaps between surface cells.

How the formula works together

Three groups of ingredients are doing the work here. Calming ingredients — BETA-GLUCAN and CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT — work on the look of redness. Emollients and lipids — CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE and SQUALANE — sit on top and slow how fast that water leaves. NIACINAMIDE works on the look of unevenness.

Emollients and lipids and calming ingredients are the same job approached from two sides — one works on how skin feels under your fingers, the other on what shows in the mirror.
