What these masks do
Five sheet masks, 25 g of essence each, built on glycerin with three volatile silicones, a Korean herbal extract set, and a three-part sugar humectant complex.
Position four, and what it is doing there
Alcohol at four is high — above the silicones, above every botanical, above every humectant except glycerin and butylene glycol.
There is a real reason for it. Alcohol thins the essence so it saturates a sheet evenly, carries other ingredients into the surface faster, and gives the cool, fresh sensation people associate with a good mask. During a fifteen-to-twenty-minute wear most of it evaporates.
The problem is that evaporation is not free. Alcohol leaving the surface takes water with it, which is the opposite of what a mask called Hydra Solution is being bought to do. For normal skin this nets out fine and the mask feels excellent. For dry or reactive skin, a hydrating product with alcohol at position four is arguing with itself.
The three silicones
Cyclopentasiloxane (7), Cyclohexasiloxane (9) and Cyclomethicone (11) are volatile cyclic silicones. They give the essence its slip, spread it thinly and evenly, and then evaporate — they are chosen for feel rather than for any effect on skin.
This family has been the subject of regulatory restriction in the EU, and a number of brands have moved away from it. If that matters to you, this is where it is on the label, and there are three of them.
What is actually holding water
Glycerin (2) and Butylene Glycol (3) do most of it. Betaine is at seventeen. Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol and Xylitol at 30 to 32 are one pre-blended sugar complex sold as a single material — three label entries, one purchase.
Hyaluronic Acid is at thirty-three, third from the preservative. On a mask sold on hydration, that is a garnish.
The part worth paying for
Positions eighteen to twenty-six are a Korean herbal set, and it is a considered one: licorice root, ginger root, schisandra fruit (omija), goldthread root (Coptis japonica), green tea leaf, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, grapefruit seed and calamus root.
Omija and goldthread in particular are traditional Korean medicinal materials rather than standard cosmetic filler — goldthread is bitter, yellow and has been used for inflamed skin for centuries. With Panthenol at sixteen and the licorice salt at twenty-three, the calming side of this formula is genuinely built rather than implied.

How the formula works together
An essence like this has to do two things a cream does not: soak a sheet evenly and stay liquid against skin for twenty minutes without running. Xanthan Gum and Hydroxyethylcellulose give it just enough body; the silicones and PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil keep the geranium oil and the extracts dissolved in a clear liquid.
Arginine at eight sets the pH. Phenoxyethanol and chlorphenesin preserve it, which a single-use sachet still needs.
Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil at twenty-seven is geranium — the Dr.Jart+ house scent, the same note that appears in their toner and cleanser.
Who it is for
Worth checking before you buy: Alcohol is the fourth ingredient and hyaluronic acid the thirty-third — if alcohol high on a list is a problem for you, this is not your mask.
Labelled for all skin types. Best on normal and combination skin that likes a cool, fast-absorbing mask and is not troubled by alcohol. If your skin is dry or currently reacting, the same brand's Vital Hydra Solution essence from this line has none of the alcohol, silicone or fragrance and is the better choice for that.
How to use it
- Open the pouch and unfold the sheet.
- Place it on clean skin and press until it adheres, working out air pockets.
- Wear for 15 to 20 minutes — not longer, since a drying sheet starts pulling water back.
- Remove and massage the remaining essence in rather than rinsing.
- Follow with a cream to seal it; the essence itself contains no lipid.
