How the formula works together
Three groups of ingredients are doing the work here. Humectants — Propanediol, Butylene Glycol and Betaine among others — draw water into the surface. Emollients and lipids — Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane and Ceramide NP — sit on top and slow how fast that water leaves. Calming ingredients — Panthenol and Beta-Glucan — work on the look of redness.
Humectants and emollients and lipids are the pairing that matters here: water pulled in by one, held there by the other. That is the difference between skin that feels comfortable an hour after application and skin that feels comfortable at bedtime.
