What this cleanser does
A 120 ml foaming cleanser built on saponified palm acid softened with potassium cocoate and an amino-acid surfactant, from MEDIHEAL's Madecassoside line.
What the label does tell us
The cleansing system is legible even from a partial list. Hydrogenated Palm Acid at position three plus Potassium Hydroxide at four is saponification happening in the tube — that is soap, and it is what produces the dense, cushioned lather this kind of cleanser is bought for.
Potassium Cocoate is a second soap, coconut-derived and milder. Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate is an amino-acid surfactant, which is the gentlest common class and is here to take the edge off the other two. Glycerin at position two is high enough to matter, and Glyceryl Stearate leaves something behind on rinse.
So: a proper soap-based foam with two softeners built in. If you deliberately avoid soap cleansers because of the raised pH, this is one of them.
About the ingredient list — read this before you buy
Our supplier gave us eight entries, and the eighth is cut off mid-word: Polyquaternium-. That is a photograph of a box that ran past the edge of the frame, not a finished declaration.
Madecassoside is not among the eight, and this cleanser is named for it. It is very likely present further down the real list — centella actives normally sit in the tail — but we are not going to print a claim we cannot show you.

What the eight entries contain

- Hydrogenated Palm Acid
- Hardened palm-derived fatty acid. Forms soap when neutralised with an alkali.
- Potassium Hydroxide
- Alkali. Sets the pH — what turns the fatty acid into soap.
- Potassium Cocoate
- Potassium salt of coconut fatty acids. Does the cleansing — a milder second soap.
- Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate
- Amino-acid surfactant from coconut. Cleans at skin's own pH rather than raising it the way soap does.
- Glycerin
- Polyol. A material skin already contains, so it reads as its own; used to pull in water and hold it. Second on this list.
- Glyceryl Stearate
- Glyceryl ester of stearic acid. Used to soften by filling the gaps between surface cells; keeps oil and water from separating.
- Polyquaternium-
- Cut off in our source. The Polyquaternium family are conditioning polymers that deposit on rinse — the reason a soap cleanser need not squeak.
- Water
- Solvent. Dissolves the rest so the formula stays one liquid.

Worth checking before you buy: Soap-based (saponified) cleansing system.
Labelled for calming and moisture, from a centella line. Soap-based — not the choice for a compromised barrier. Buy it for the cleansing system, which is verifiable; the madecassoside claim is not, from the label we hold.
How to use it
- Take an adequate amount on the palms and work it into a lather first.
- Massage the foam over a wet face rather than the paste.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
- Follow with toner while skin is still damp.
