Round Lab
Round Lab Birch Moisturizing Toner 300ml
Three hundred millilitres. Use it like you mean it.
A toner priced and sized to be poured, not dabbed — twenty-one ingredients.
Watery, slightly slippery.
What this toner does
A 300 ml hydrating toner with birch sap sixth on the list, carrying two hyaluronates, Panthenol and a sugarcane extract, formulated to put the first layer of water back after cleansing.
Birch sap where it should be
Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice sits at position six — high enough to be a real part of the formula rather than a label decoration. Around it are Glycine, Glycereth-26 and Propanediol, the water-holding backbone, with no fragrance, no alcohol and no acid on the list.
Key ingredients
Ingredient · What it is, and what it is used for
- Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice
- Sap of Japanese white birch.
- Glycine
- Amino acid. Sets the pH.
- Glycereth-26
- Ethoxylated glycerin. Pulls water into the surface and holds it there; thins it out.
- Chondrus Crispus Extract
- Extract of Irish moss. Sets how thick it is.
- Saccharum Officinarum Extract
- Extract of sugarcane. Pulls water into the surface and holds it there.
- Sodium Hyaluronate
- Sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. A material skin already contains, so it reads as its own; used to pull in water and hold it.
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Glycosaminoglycan. A material skin already contains, so it reads as its own; used to pull in water and hold it.
- Panthenol
- Provitamin B5. Used to calm irritation, and pulls water into the surface and holds it there.
- Glyceryl Glucoside
- Glucoside of glycerin. Pulls water into the surface and holds it there.
- Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate
- Licorice root derivative. Used to calm the look of redness.
- Ascorbic Acid
- Pure vitamin C. The most studied form and the least stable one — which is why the rest of a list like this is built to protect it.
How the formula works together
Everything above the thickeners is a humectant of one kind or another: Glycine, Propanediol, Glycereth-26, Pentylene Glycol, sugarcane, two hyaluronates, Glyceryl Glucoside. A toner is the step where skin is still damp, and a stack like this is designed to catch that water before it goes.
Panthenol and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate are the only things here working on the look of irritation, and they are enough for a first step. Twenty-one ingredients, none of them fragrance, is a formula built for daily volume rather than for a single impressive application.
Who it is for
Labelled for all skin types. The size and the short list suit twice-daily use, including on the body.
How to use it
- After cleansing, pour into the palms or onto a pad.
- Press over the face while skin is still damp.
- Layer a second time on dry patches before the next step.
