SKIN1004 TONE BRIGHTENING BOOSTING TONER 210ml
Description

What this toner does
A 210 ml toner, formulated to hold water in the surface, calm the look of redness and soften the surface.
Niacinamide, near the top of the list
Niacinamide sits at number 3 of 25 — an ingredient list runs in order of quantity, so that is among the largest part of what is in the bottle.
You can check it against the full list further down.
Key ingredients
| Ingredient | What it is, and what it is used for |
|---|---|
| Niacinamide | Nicotinamide (vitamin B3). Studied for signalling to skin cells rather than sitting on top; studied for evening out tone; studied for breakout-prone skin. |
| Centella Asiatica Extract | Extract of Centella asiatica, whole plant. Used to calm irritation; used to slow oxidation, in the formula and on skin; used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Panthenol | Provitamin B5. Used to calm irritation; used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Allantoin | Heterocyclic diureide. Used to calm irritation. |
| Madecassoside | Triterpene glycoside from Centella asiatica. Used to slow oxidation, in the formula and on skin; used to calm irritation. |
| Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride | Medium-chain triglyceride from coconut. Used to soften by filling the gaps between surface cells. |
| Pentylene Glycol | Diol. Dissolves the rest so the formula stays one liquid; used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Butylene Glycol | Diol. Used to pull in water and hold it; dissolves the rest so the formula stays one liquid. |
| Glycerin | Polyol. A material skin already contains, so it reads as its own; used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Propanediol | Plant-derived diol. Dissolves the rest so the formula stays one liquid; used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Betaine | Amino acid derivative from sugar beet. Used to pull in water and hold it. |
| Xylitylglucoside | Sugar derivative. Listed as skin-conditioning agent (humectant). |
How the formula works together
Three groups of ingredients are doing the work here. Humectants — Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol and Glycerin among others — draw water into the surface. Calming ingredients — Centella Asiatica Extract, Panthenol and Allantoin among others — work on the look of redness. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride sits on top and slow how fast that water leaves.
Humectants and emollients and lipids are the pairing that matters here: water pulled in by one, held there by the other. That is the difference between skin that feels comfortable an hour after application and skin that feels comfortable at bedtime.
How to use it
- Apply an appropriate amount to either a cotton pad or directly to the palm and gently pat onto the skin.
